What causes shoulder pain?
Shoulder pain is commonly caused by overuse, sprains or strain. A very common shoulder injury is a rotator cuff injury. A rotator cuff injury is when damage or irritation affects one or more tendons or muscles in the shoulder. Due to the complex nature of the shoulder, rotator cuff injuries are unlikely to heal on their own. Generally, degeneration and tears are likely to advance over time with the patient’s continued use of their shoulder.
How is shoulder pain typically treated?
Shoulder pain can be treated in multiple ways depending on the severity of the injury. Traditionally, minor injuries are treated with activity changes, physical therapy and/or a medication to reduce pain and inflammation. For more major injuries, surgery is generally required, which brings the risk of further complications. Shoulders are known for improper healing due to the complexity of the area and poor blood flow to the area.
How can Renew Regenerative Medicine help?
Advanced regenerative and restorative treatments are now available to treat shoulder injuries. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy helps repair the shoulder with local injections. PRP presents patient’s with a long-lasting solution using the body’s natural healing process. PRP uses platelets from the patient’s own blood to promote healing and regeneration of tissue; no foreign objects or substances are added to the shoulder during the procedure. PRP therapy offers an effective treatment with a low risk of infection or other complications.
The medical team at Renew Regenerative Medicine also uses Regenerative Cell Therapy injections to treat shoulder injuries. Regenerative Cell Therapy allows patients to use regenerative cells to help repair and regenerate damaged cells and tissues in their shoulder. Stem Cell Therapy is the most advanced and, arguably, most effective regenerative therapy — stem cells can actually help heal and restore damaged joints. Stem Cell Therapy can be used to stimulate a regenerative healing process in the shoulder and in this way can be used to provide many patients powerful healing and long-lasting relief.
